Our Witnessing Stewards-2009

This year, we have tweaked our stewardship program "Our Hope for Things to Come" a bit. We resurrected the Family Album, which contains pictures and commentary about the life of our church. After a pot luck supper to "rally the troops," volunteer route drivers delivered the album to parishioners, which they were able to keep. The album contained a pledge card, which folks were encouraged to bring in on Stewardship Sunday, November 15. Rev. Richard F. Jones, of Bolton, was our guest preacher again this year, and he spoke eloquently about the many things we all have to be thankful for.
We are still focusing on the idea that we give not because our church needs money, (although we certainly do), but as a reflection of the abundance in our lives. That way we become more the persons God meant us to be.
Our witnessing stewards, Roger Foss, Glen Stevens, and Erica Voellings addressed us at the three services leading up to Consecration Sunday. Each spoke from their heart about their own spiritual journeys and the importance of our church in their lives.
The results of the Consecrating Stewards program are very encouraging, given the tough economic times. We plan to continue the program, with some twists that make it uniquely our own. Stay tuned!
Sincerely,
Your Stewardship Committee:
Liz and Roger Foss, Bev Wentworth, Phil Harding, and Marilyn Olsen
Guest Steward Richard F. Jones

In 2007, on Consecration Sunday, we enjoyed native American music provided by Blackfeather, a Native American drummer, of Brookfield. His fellow musicians also performed "smudging" before the service.
