Welcome to the First Congregational Church of Spencer !
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! It is a great
joy to welcome you to our website and internet ministry.
Thank you for taking the time to visit us. All of you
are welcome to have a seat at our table and share in our
ministry. Come just as you are, fearing not what you lack,
but rather embrace what God offers you. We seek not
conformity to mandates, but rather unity in Jesus Christ. We
come from many backgrounds and places in life, and strive to
embrace the future while cherishing the lessons and heritage
that more than 260 years of ministry have enriched us with.
We are a part of the United
Church of Christ (UCC), a Christian community that seeks to
serve God, spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, and bring
healing and justice to the world. That Good News is that God
loves you, and seeks to have a real and personal
relationship with you! In Jesus Christ, we have a common
meeting place with God, and can rest assured that God knows
exactly what it is like to be one of us. There is a place of
hope, a place of rest, a place to refresh and again engage
in life’s journey. We are also enriched when we dwell
together in Christ’s grace. You will find a warm and loving
congregation here, one that seeks to bring healing to the
broken heart, comfort to the sick body, and peace to the
mind.
We talk about “kindling a new
light on the hill, half way between the valley and stars.”
The source of any light is a glowing energy, a power so hot
that it produces heat and light that illuminates everything
around it. There is a great energy in our congregation, that
of the love of Jesus Christ flowing in everyone that gathers
here. You can see and feel it in the people in the pews, at
the pot luck suppers and youth group meetings, in the
community services and the outreach of the economy shop, in
the pins knocked down by the bowling league and the
discourse in our Bible studies. FCC is a place that is alive
and growing, glowing with the desire to serve Jesus Christ
and love our community. We feel that the best way to thank
God for the blessings that we have been given is to do our
best to be a blessing to our community, our denomination and
our world.
Please enjoy exploring our
website. If you have any questions, would like more
information, or a visit with the pastor, please feel free to
call or e-mail us. Thank you again for visiting and may God
bless you! |
